Scholarships

Northwest Savoyards offers this program to residents of Snohomish County who are actively involved in musical theater productions and who are interested in furthering their education in a theatrical field.

Either one (1) $1000 or two (2) $500 awards will be given in either one or both of two categories, Performance or Technical Production.

Recipients are selected by a review of submitted materials (see below) and a competitive audition or interview as required by the selection committee. There are no age requirements or restrictions.

The materials you need to submit depend on whether you are applying in the category of Performance or of Technical Production.

    For Performance:
  • Completed application
  • A performance tape (cassette or CD) of a song either from an Operetta or from a Broadway show
  • A resume
  • A recent head shot
  • A letter of recommendation from a voice teacher, music teacher or music director
    For Technical Production:
  • Completed application
  • A summary of recent work (pictures if possible)
  • A resume
  • A letter of recommendation from a stage director or technical director

All applications must be received between January 1st and April 15th.

The bad news: incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

The good news: all applicants who submit a complete application on time will receive 2 complimentary tickets to use in any of next season's shows.

Applicants who are accepted as candidates for scholarshop awards will be contacted in early May to set up an interview date and time.

Performance applicants should have a song prepared (an accompanist will be provided) and a monologue.

Technical Production applicants should be prepared to demonstrate their work, with a portfolio and including, where feasible, examples.
